Workforce Pell State Briefing

Texas

What's happening with Workforce Pell in Texas?

The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) runs the state's Workforce Pell Grant process, working with the Texas Workforce Commission and the Texas Workforce Investment Council to identify high-demand, high-wage occupations. THECB has published program guidelines and an eligibility-certification process, with an institutional application deadline extended to June 19, 2026; the Governor gives final approval before federal review. State officials have said student access could realistically arrive in 2027 rather than late 2026.
